Imagination will get you anywhere
As long as I can remember, I’ve always sensed that we all – humans, animals, plants, and other living creatures – are connected. I am blessed to have spent the greater part of my youth in Australia. Vividly I remember how, as a six-year-old, I would walk a while with three Aboriginal girls on my way home from the bus stop. They asked me how I liked my new home and shared some lovely finger bananas with me. Once I got home, I would lie on my back in the grass and gaze dreamily at the clouds slowly drifting by.Part of a greater beingIn hindsight, I see how the pieces of the puzzle fall into place. Whereas we in the West tend to live in our minds and think about everything, Aboriginals live in the spiritual world of their dreams. Their story of creation is aptly called The Dreaming and they believe we aren’t living in reality, whereas they are through their dreamworld. Their land, which they regard as their mother by the way, supports this outlook on life. I only needed to venture a little way into the Outback to experience the mysterious silence and to know we are all part of a greater being.Imagination will get you anywhereThat was in the 1970s. Now, many years later, I still experience this connection. And eventhough I don’t lie on my back in the grass that much anymore, I still (day)dream all the time. In my dreams I surf on the waves of the universal sea of conscious energy. This provides me with imagination and the power of visualization, and enables me to manifest all sorts of things. Web copy and other commercial texts, blogs, poems, short stories and my novel; they’re all a product of my dreams, of my imagination. Come to think of it, imagination has taken care of all the wonderful things in my life. As Einstein put it: Logic will get you from A to B. Imagination will get you anywhere.
