Episode 26

“So, what was that stupid mistake you were talking about?” Deborah asked Jenny curiously, when they had finished talking to Norm on the footpath just outside the beach house.

The question made Jenny blush with shame. At the same time, Jenny knew it was better for both her and Deborah to get it off her chest. So, she cleared her throat and began to tell Deborah about the mistake that was troubling her.

“You mentioned stalking back there and that’s when I realized who could be stalking you.”

Deborah’s eyes opened wide as she listened closely to her sister’s words.

“Let’s go inside,” she suggested.

“Good idea,” Jenny replied, and they went inside through the front door.

Wheat In Summer by Simon Templar

The afternoon sun shone brightly as young Maddie trudged down the road home from school with a glum look on her face. She still felt downhearted because of what had taken place in the schoolyard at morning break. Some boys from her class had made fun of a girl from another class. This girl’s father had been laid off quite a while back and her parents could hardly make ends meet with only her mother’s wages. The boys were making fun of her second-hand clothing and calling her parents losers.

Episode 24

“Hey Conno, how’s it going?” Dave Frankston greeted on the phone and then swallowed the bite he had just taken of his pizza. He was thrilled that Giuseppe had decided to ring him.

“You know, Mr. Frankston, I’ve been thinking about your offer the other day. It’s put things into a different perspective.”

Dave raised his eyebrows.

“After leaving Bee, I lost all hope of ever seeing her again. Your contacting me has brought back heaps of memories that made me realize how much I’ve missed her and how much pain I’ve been suppressing all these years.”

“Hmm, I thought it would.”

“Now, I see life’s given me a new chance,” Giuseppe continued. “And I’m taking it, Mr. Frankston!” he half shouted down the phone as his heart pounded with excitement.

Part 5 in the Helena Series

“Ohhh,” Helena and Marlon sighed as the most radiant sun they had ever seen, appeared before them.

They gazed at the sun to see it transform into a smiling woman’s face so full of love that it brought tears to their eyes. A warm and gentle voice spoke.

“Dear children, I am called Tamar. Please, come closer.”

The two friends did as they were asked.

“My name is Helena,” Helena said without the slightest hesitation.

“And I am called Marlon,” Marlon added with equal enthusiasm.

“Yes, I know, my little wise ones. I have been watching you from above since the day you were born.”

“Were you expecting us, Tamar?” Helena asked.

Tamar smiled.

“Yes, I was indeed. Just as humankind has been expecting me for thousands of years.”

“So, you are the long-expected Sun,” Helena said to her own surprise, as the words did not feel as if they were her own.

“Yes, I am,” Tamar replied, “and to the ancients I am also known as Sirius.”

Episode 23

When Giuseppe woke up on the day after he had spoken to Mr. Frankston on the phone, he intuitively reached for the cowry shell hanging around his neck. With his eyes still closed, he gently rubbed the shell between his fingers and tried to recall what he had dreamed about last night. It did not take long for images to flood his mind’s eye.
